Maker Spotlight: Dan Venables
Dan Venables obtained his Bachelor of Visual arts with First class honours, in 2017, from the Australian National University, Glass Workshop. During his degree Venables studied abroad at Pilchuck Glass school, USA, and upon completion of his degree, was awarded the Boronia prize.
Alongside his Glass practice, Venables has developed a love of knifemaking and metalworking, and creates custom, high end culinary knives, and a wide range of tools, as well as a custom fabrication service.
The knives that Venables creates are designed to be long lasting, heirloom pieces. The steel is hand forged and laminated out of high carbon steel, and the handles are all sourced from reclaimed timber from around Australia.
