Doryanthes excelsa is a clumping tussock-like plant. The roots and young stems were roasted for food, and the flowers provided nectar for drinks. Leaf fibres were used for brushes, ropes and matting. The long thick flower stems became spear fishing shafts and poles for ceremonies and celebrations. Found in NSW.
