Lomandra longifolia is a common and widespread herb with tough, narrow leaves. Small, creamy flowers on spiny flower spikes appear in spring. Aboriginal people used the leaves to weave baskets. The white inner leaf bases are edible, with a pea-like flavour. Found in SA, VIC, TAS, NSW, QLD.
