Banksia marginata is commonly known as the silver banksia. The sweet nectar from the flowers was sucked or soaked in water to make a sweet drink and in some cases mixed with some wattle gum to make a sweet lolly. The wood was also used to make needles. Found in SA, VIC, NSW, TAS.
