Marsilea drummondii is an aquatic fern of wetlands and ephemeral pools. Fronds unfurl to bear silky, water-repellent leaflets. When water receded, capsules (sporocarps) were harvested, ground, and mixed with water to cook as patties. Careful food preparation was necessary to avoid thiamine deficiency. Found in all states except TAS.
