Bringing Australian animals, including quolls, back from extinction (on the mainland) are the most exciting ecological developments I've seen in my lifetime. But their cycle of life is dependent on our protection. The gate in this picture is Quoll Gate, part of a cat and fox proof fencing which provides vital protection for such creatures in the Capital's own such experiment: Mulligans Flat Nature Reserve. But what about the habitat beyond these utopian islands? Research has shown there are quolls which venture beyond the fence! This tree may be a home to a Quoll, we can't see any, they are clever and nocturnal. Will research and public policy, such as cat containment, ensure a brighter future for these creatures in Australia, even beyond the fence?
