A youth, looks over Australia's parliament house towards a refurbishment currently underway in the Australian War Memorial, from heat stressed Bush on Red Hill. This renovation, from tomb to toy box, represents the previous conservative government's effort to shift our national identity from war venerating to celebrating. Our youth represents the real Australians who bear the humanitarian and environmental consequence of future wars: our own sons and daughters. In fact this is my child and they are coming of age, forming identity and starting their destiny journey. Resting in their hands is a cockatoos feather, symbol of cowardice in the first world war, this represents the burden of the duty and service as resting on their shoulders. Our youth face uncertain futures. The environmental impact of war and climate neglect. The vegetation on the hill shows various signs of heat stress indicating the global climate crisis, caused by yet unchecked global warming and current wars, may well result in desertification of this nation and its 'Garden City' city within our youth's lifetime.
