Collection: Ibis Beads

I began making Faience beads in 1991. I was taught by my mother-in-law Barbara Romalis who also taught me basic silversmithing. I was immediately taken with the delights of Faience, an Ancient Egyptian bead-making technique using a unique ceramic method.

I handmake all the fittings and settings with sterling silver and I often use gemstones and silver drops to highlight the faience beads. Spacer beads are silver, glass or gemstones. I also oxidise the silver sometimes to highlight the bead colours.
