I first had the idea for this print during a trip to Seoul in autumn, which—just like our autumns here—was awash in yellow leaves. The composition was also partly inspired by a painting I saw on that trip by Park Rehyun (Woman, 1942), where the central female figure is turned away from the viewer, deep in her own thoughts. This print was carved out of linoleum and printed using oil-based relief inks on a 100-year-old Albion book press at Megalo Print Studio in Kingston, as well as by hand using a bamboo baren. The block was carved, printed in black, carved again, then printed in a mixture of gold and copper inks.
