The vibrant colours in this necklace called me to make a piece about Australia’s Great barrier Reef which is severely impacted by climate change. Rising ocean temperatures cause coral bleaching, where coral expel vital algae and become vulnerable to disease. Ocean acidification weakens coral skeletons, while stronger storms and changing currents damage reef structures, further threatening biodiversity.
