Aleurites moluccanus produces white flowers which are followed by capsular fruits containing one to three kernels inside a hard shell. Candlenuts are toxic raw. Aboriginal people roasted the shells until they cracked. The kernels were then cooled and eaten. The oily seeds burn easily, providing candle grade illumination. Found in QLD.
