Originally from South Africa, Agapanthus is an erect, perennial evergreen herb with stout underground rhizomes and attractive blue or white flowers on long stems. It spreads by dumping garden waste, infesting native vegetation in cool to warm temperate areas.
Reproduction is by rhizome and seed. The tough root systems clump and crowd out native plants and can only be removed physically with great difficulty. (framed)
