Acrylic on mulga wood coolamon
77mm high
210mm wide
30mm deep
This artwork is a beginning of a series focused on looking at Country through a cultural lens. After a recent trip back to Country, learning more about the landscape and my Ancestors, I had somewhat of an awakening and visibleness of being there with my Ancestors. I saw, thought and felt things I had not seen, thought or felt before, and had an overwhelming sense of the cultural obligation I have to protect, give life to and honour Country, and to paint the feeling. It was a moment of deep learning and reflection, but also a moment where I felt the urge to create intuitively which is rare for a perfectionist. This series I hope to awaken more connection and understanding in looking at and learning about Country first and foremost through the eyes of First Nations people.
Please note, this artwork is currently on exhibition at Belconnen Arts Centre and will not be available for pick-up or delivery until the exhibition has closed. Please check the Belco Arts website for exhibition dates.
