April Widdup is a multidisciplinary artist based in Canberra, working across glass, sculpture, installation, video and sound. Their practice explores perception, memory, and the relationship between bodies and environments, and examines how we come to see and understand the world around us. The Morpheus Tree series looks to the land as a product of process, memory and time. Using a fluid dynamics phenomenon known as the Saffman-Taylor Instability, April allows branching, fractal forms to emerge through material forces rather than intention to echo the growth patterns of trees, rivers and root systems. Marks, slips and irregularities are kept as records of interaction, not corrected away. April graduated from Australian National University School of Art and Design in 2022, majoring in glass and is a recent finalist of the 2026 FUSE Glass Prize. @made_by_april_
