This illustration explores the surreal process of reconstructing a fractured sense of self after migration. The central figure embodies the “gaping void” I carried upon arriving in Australia, a physical manifestation of the traumatic experiences and relationships I was leaving behind. In time, this void has transformed into a vessel for growth. Trust is nature emerging from within; vines, sunflowers, and butterflies replace absence with renewal. The shift from a shadowed, watchful unknown to a warm yellow light reflects my passage from survival toward wholeness. No longer defined by escape, there has taken place a quiet blooming into self-discovery.
