The painting presents a woman preparing Newari liquor “Aylā” in a traditional method. It is an ancient heritage spirit of the Kathmandu valley-Nepal. It is homemade by Newari people - mainly women before any festivals or social-cultural events. The clay pot and copper vessel specially designed for this purpose, and a traditional wood fire stove is used for cooking. The process includes distillation of fermented ingredients such as rice, grains and millet.
