Loosely modelled on the medieval Syon Cope, my version depicts then PM Julia Gillard and the six Royal Commissioners as my 'saints' (in order from L-R: Commissioner Bob Atkinson AO APM, Commissioner Helen Milroy, Commissioner Andrew Murray, Hon Julia Gillard AC, The Hon. Justice Peter McLellan AM, The Hon. Justice Jennifer Coate, Commissioner Robert Fitzgerald AM. It took around 540 hours to stitch and acknowledges not only the dedication, compassion and sincerity of the Commissioners over the five years of the inquiry, and Gillard's decision to instigate the Royal Commission,but also the long history of ecclesiastical embroidery and the practioners who have created textile work in service of the church for hundreds of years.
