MEET THE MAKER

In 2021, Inke Falkner established i.f.made, a Braidwood-based artisan practice creating functional and low-footprint timber pieces. Building on her woodworking expertise, Inke has expanded into bespoke veneer and straw marquetry jewellery, focusing on contemporary designs that celebrate natural materials and traditional marquetry techniques.  

Straw marquetry is a centuries-old French decorative craft. The natural rye straw is hand-dyed and each piece of straw is individually prepared. The straw is split open, flattened into ribbons and carefully arranged into detailed patterns and designs.
