Collection: Blue Bower Art

Dr Jess Hodgson is a conservation ecologist turned cyanotype artist and the maker behind Blue Bower Art. At CSIRO, she kayaked through wetlands to catch spoonbills and ibis, surveyed plants in critically endangered ecosystems and flew drones for research.

When chronic health issues ended her science career, she turned to cyanotype, a sun-printing process botanists have used to record plants since the 1840s. Jess prints real ferns, flowers, feathers and wings, many collected on her conservation property in the Southern Tablelands of NSW. Her work includes original artworks, prints, cards, bookmarks and workshops.
